I started taking pictures before photography became frictionless: film rolls, compact cameras, tiny CCDs and early Fuji FinePix models; then Sigma and its strange Foveon sensor, full-frame DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. I have always liked the technical mess of photography: grain, noise, colour shifts, blown highlights, different sensors and lenses. Photography was one of my first serious crafts.
Over the years I have photographed conferences, concerts, city events, nightlife, travel, journalism and commissioned work. The photographs here come from walking, travelling, eating locally, getting lost and trying to understand how everyday life works somewhere else. I am interested in people, places, food, work, movement, infrastructure, failures and the quiet mechanics that hold things together.
